I’m sure it seemed like a good idea at the time.  ‘Let’s put the call to action button over the skip button. That way when they try to skip, it’ll take them to the website.  It’ll drive up click through and send the analytics through the roof…’

I’m almost certain that’s how the conversation went.

I clicked on a link this morning to watch a clip on YouTube.  I forget what the clip was.  I didn’t end up watching it.  After trying to click the skip button five times and getting the Grammerly website instead I got the shits and gave up, but not before I took a screen shot.

So congratulations to Grammarly for creating the most annoying YouTube pre-roll ad of 2016 so far.  It’s early days.  I’m sure there’ll be others…
