Happy New Year. So now what?

January 2nd, 2014 in Blog by 2 Comments

Everyone starts with their New Year Resolutions but few have a specific plan of how to achieve it, so it’s pretty much doomed to fail from the start. The old adage of ‘Fail to plan means you plan to fail’ still holds true.

Instead of New Year Resolutions, I’m working on the idea of setting goals.  I don’t buy into the New Year Resolutions party mainly because the idea of resolutions is so binary.  You either succeed in a resolution or you fail. At least with goals, you can be encouraged by progress towards the goal without having actually achieved the goal.

My plan for the new year is starting by spending a few days looking back at my notes from 2013, seeing what went right and what went wrong, looking for ways things can be done better, and using that analysis to discover and create new opportunities.  From there I can build up my personal and business goals for the year, and then develop plans to achieve them.

So whatever your plans are for the new year, I wish you all the best.  Cheers to a fulfilling and prosperous 2014!

Couldn’t agree more! And to add to that, I’m also starting up a vision board. As wankey as they sound (and are) the last time I tried it, it worked!

Awesome idea Paul. I might give that a crack as well. I’ve found I always respond well to visual motivators so that could be a bit of fun. Cheers to a great 2014!
